It was more prevalent during the Vedic age where shishyas [students] were taught various subjects and about how to live a cultured and disciplined life by their Gurus [teacher]. OUR PRIDE: MAHARANA PRATAP SINGH SISODIYA Maharana Pratap Singh Sisodiya was born into a Hindu Rajput family and was a Rajput king who was popularly known as “ Mewari Rana ”. Pratap Singh was born on May 9, 1540 , in Kumbhalgarh Fort, Rajasthan. He was the eldest son of Udai Singh II , the Maharana [King] of Mewar , and Jaiwanta Bai, the Queen of Mewar . Pratap was educated in the Rajput tradition, learning horsemanship, archery, and swordsmanship. He also studied Sanskrit and Persian. He was a Hindu Rajput king of Mewar from the Sisodia dynasty. He fought several major battles against the Mughal Empire, including the great Battle of Haldighati in 1576.  In 1576, Akbar led a large army against Mewar.
