KNOW ABOUT BLOOD STATUS
WHAT IS "BLOOD STATUS"?
OUT OF MY PERSONAL INTEREST, HERE I HAVE COLLECTED SOME INFORMATION ON "PURITY OF BLOOD" FOR THE POTTERHEADS AS SAID IN THE BOOKS OF HARRY POTTER BY JK ROWLING.
Blood status, also called purity of blood, was a concept in the wizarding world that distinguished between people and their family trees that had different levels of magically endowed members. As follows;
1. MUGGLE-BORNS:
Muggle-born is the term given to a witch or wizard who is born to two non-magical parents. Their magial abilities do not seem to be at all affected by their Muggle parentage — in fact, many Muggle-borns have been among the most powerful witches and wizards of their time, such as Lily Potter and Hermione granger. Muggle-born witches and wizards are often derided by pure-bloods and called disparaging names such as "MUDBLOOD", a term implying that they are somehow dirty and impure. Many pure-bloods believe that Muggle-borns are unworthy of magic and should not be allowed into the wizarding world.
2. PURE BLOODS:
Pure-blood was the term for wizarding families who claimed to have no muggles squibs, muggle-borns or half-bloods in their family tree; however, when traced back far enough, nearly every family tree had a few non-magical ancestors. Most wizards and witches considered an individual to be a pure-blood if his or her parents and grandparents were not Muggles. Identified pure-blood families include the Blacks, Crouches, Fudges, Gaunts, Lestranges, Longbottoms, Malfoys and Weasleys.
3. HALF BLOODS:
"Half-blood" is the term applied to wizards and witches who have both magical and Muggle ancestors in their family trees. They are the most common blood status, far outnumbering pure-bloods and Muggle-borns. Rowling has stated that, of the Hogwarts annual intake, fifty per cent are half-bloods. Pure-blood supremacists view half-bloods as inferior to them, although superior to Muggles and Muggle-borns.
4. SQUIBS:
A Squib is someone who was born into a wizarding family but hasn't got any magic powers. Kind of the opposite of Muggle-born wizards, but Squibs are quite unusual.
A Squib, also known as a wizard-born, was a non-magical person who was born to at least one magical parent Squibs were, in essence, "wizard-born Muggles". They were rare and were looked upon with a degree of disdain by some witches and wizards, particularly pure-bloods.
5. MUGGLES:
Muggles in the Harry Potter series refer to those who show no magical Ability. Muggles in the Harry Potter series refer to those who show no magical ability. Dursley was the surname of a Muggle family, the only known living close relatives of Harry Potter. Petunia Dursley was the older sister of Harry's mother, Lily Potter.
6. DEATH EATERS:
The Death Eaters are characters featured in the Harry Potter series of novels and films. They are a radical group of wizards and witches, led by the dark wizard Lord Voldemort, who seek to purify the wizarding community by eliminating wizards and witches born to non-magical parents. They consist of WIZARDS AND WITCHES who were radical group of Pure-blood who practised the DARK ARTS MAGIC.
