The ruler
OUR PRIDE: MAHARANA PRATAP SINGH SISODIYA
In 1576, Akbar led a large army against Mewar. The battle took place at Haldighati, and Pratapji was outnumbered by the Mughals. Emperor Akbar had 85'000 soldiers while Maharana Pratap had only 20'000 soldiers. Despite this, Maharana Pratap kept fighting with Akbar and did not back down. After the Battle of Haldighati, Pratap continued to fight against the Mughals. He used guerrilla warfare tactics to harass the Mughal army, and he was able to keep the Mughals from conquering Mewar. Pratap's resistance inspired other Rajput rulers to fight against the Mughals, and it helped to slow the expansion of the Mughal Empire.
Here are some of the great things about Maharana Pratap Singh:
- He was a great warrior. Pratap Singh was a skilled horseman, swordsman, and archer. He was also a brilliant strategist and tactician. He led his men to victory in many battles against the Mughals, even when he was outnumbered.

- Maharana Pratap used to go to war with a spear, shield, two swords, armour, whose total weight was 208 kg. It is not possible for today’s men to fight with such a load. On top of that a heroic horse named CHETAK used to carry Pratap during the war. Chetak, the horse of Rana Pratap Singh is a strikingly memorable one. There is also a temple of Maharana Pratap's horse Chetak, which is still safe in the Haldi Ghati.

- Once in a battle, Chetak put his foot on the head of an elephant. He jumped over the 26 feet long drain carrying the injured Maharana Pratap. Chetak horse supported Maharana in every war.
Maharana Pratap died on January 19, 1597, in Chawand, Rajasthan. He was succeeded by his son Amar Singh I. Our Rajput community in hubli-dharwad celebrates Maharana Pratap's birth anniversary very grandly. We go on rallies, we distribute sweets and milkshakes etc. Maharana Pratap Singh Sisodiya is remembered as a great warrior and a symbol of Rajput resistance against the Mughals. As an Indian and as a Rajput I feel so proud of our king, our Pratap. We worship him.
